A very specific corner of White House history has been getting attention \u2014 and it now looks completely different.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump announced that renovations have been completed on the Lincoln Bedroom bathroom, a space located on the second floor of the White House. According to Trump, the remodel was designed to better reflect the style and materials associated with the mid-19th century, during the life of President Abraham Lincoln.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bathroom had last been updated in the 1940s, long after Lincoln\u2019s time. That update brought in green art-deco-style tile. Trump described that earlier renovation as stylistically inconsistent with the historic period the space is intended to honor. The newly finished version replaces that 1940s look with highly polished black-and-white marble, along with updated fixtures in a gold finish. Trump shared photos of the completed space, noting that the cleaner, classical look is intended to feel more aligned with how the room might have been presented originally.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lincoln Bedroom itself \u2014 which includes an office and cabinet room once used by Lincoln \u2014 earned its current name during the Truman administration, when White House historians and preservationists organized furnishings from Lincoln\u2019s era to be placed there. Since then, the room has served as a symbol of Lincoln\u2019s legacy within the Executive Residence.<\/span><\/p>\n

This bathroom renovation follows a separate large-scale White House project recently announced: preparations for a privately funded ballroom. Construction crews have begun the first major teardown work to make space for the new venue. The projected ballroom cost \u2014 approximately $250 million \u2014 is to be financed by Trump and private donors.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the White House press office, the future ballroom would allow the administration to host visiting delegations and significant ceremonial events indoors, instead of temporarily assembling large tents outside.<\/span><\/p>\n
