\u201cMy wife Keely and I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who\u2019s going to be the next James Bond,\u201d Brosnan said. \u201cThere are many great candidates out there, and I\u2019m sure they\u2019re going to make it a spectacle of delight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, when asked whether he would consider reprising the role himself, the actor \u2014 who played Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002 \u2014 didn\u2019t rule it out entirely.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond,\u201d he joked. \u201cBut if Denis Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I\u2019d look at it in a heartbeat. Why not? It\u2019s great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics\u2026 who knows?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The actor added that he would only consider returning if the story acknowledged his age and experience. \u201cIt would have to be about an older Bond \u2014 not trying to recreate the past, but embracing it,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brosnan\u2019s journey as James Bond began with GoldenEye<\/em> in 1995, revitalizing the franchise after a six-year hiatus. His confident, polished take on the character continued through Tomorrow Never Dies<\/em>, The World Is Not Enough<\/em>, and Die Another Day<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was shocking,\u201d he admitted. \u201cI was utterly surprised by how it ended. I felt like I\u2019d been kicked to the curb.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking Forward, Not Back<\/span><\/h3>\n

Despite the abrupt departure, Brosnan has maintained a gracious attitude toward the Bond legacy \u2014 and toward those who followed him. He has publicly praised Daniel Craig\u2019s gritty reimagining of the role and expressed admiration for the creative risks the franchise continues to take.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for returning himself, the veteran actor seems content to leave that decision to fate \u2014 or to a visionary director like Denis Villeneuve<\/strong>, whom he cited as a dream collaborator.<\/span><\/p>\n
