\u201cIt\u2019s a three-day record,\u201d Momoa said this weekend, still buzzing from the chart-topping debut. \u201cBut yeah\u2026 there\u2019s a major plot hole. That\u2019s why we need to do another one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The film pairs Momoa with longtime friend and frequent collaborator Dave Bautista<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, casting the two as estranged half-brothers forced back together after the murder of their father. Momoa plays Jonny, a reckless, high-energy cop, while Bautista\u2019s James is a disciplined former Navy SEAL. The dynamic\u2014chaotic versus controlled\u2014has become the film\u2019s emotional engine and its biggest selling point.<\/span><\/p>\n

Screenwriter Jonathan Tropper<\/span><\/span><\/strong> has already confirmed that discussions about a sequel are underway, with a \u201cpretty strong idea\u201d in place. The concept would build on the brothers\u2019 newfound unity and immediately stress-test it under higher stakes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese guys finally chose each other,\u201d Tropper said. \u201cSo the next story has to ask what that bond costs them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Amazon, unsurprisingly, seems eager. The film\u2019s rapid climb up the charts has all but guaranteed franchise status, transforming what began as a one-off streaming release into a potential multi-film property.<\/span><\/p>\n

Part of the appeal is the chemistry. Momoa\u2019s kinetic, improvisational energy crashes headfirst into Bautista\u2019s grounded intensity, a balance the two actors first discovered while working together on See<\/em>. Their rain-soaked, mud-heavy brawl midway through the film has already become a fan favorite, with Bautista calling it \u201cthe most fun I\u2019ve ever had on a set.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

For Momoa, The Wrecking Crew<\/em> also kicks off a stacked 2026 slate that includes Animal Friends<\/em>, Street Fighter<\/em>, and his return as Duncan Idaho in Dune: Part Three<\/em>.
