Actor Ryan Guzman<\/strong> has starred in hit series like 9-1-1<\/em> and shared the screen with some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest names, but one moment from early in his career still stands out \u2014 the day Jennifer Lopez<\/strong> personally set up his Instagram account.<\/span><\/p>\n

While speaking with PEOPLE<\/strong> about the return of 9-1-1<\/em>, which launched its ninth season with a two-part premiere on Oct. 9 and Oct. 16, Guzman reflected on another milestone \u2014 the 10th anniversary of The Boy Next Door<\/em><\/strong>, the 2015 thriller he starred in opposite Lopez.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know it was 10 years since that movie,\u201d<\/strong> he said, surprised. \u201cWhere has time gone?\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Day J.Lo Asked for His Instagram \u2014 and Then Made It Herself<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Guzman, who was still early in his career at the time, recalls being caught off guard during press interviews when Lopez asked for his Instagram handle.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think I just had a Facebook or something, and she asked me what my Instagram was,\u201d<\/strong> he said. \u201cI gave her a blank look, and she just said, \u2018You know what? No \u2014 I\u2019ll set it up for you.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Laughing, he adds that Lopez took charge and created his account on the spot.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy very first post is because of her. She was in charge of it for a little bit,\u201d<\/strong> he said. \u201cIt\u2019s such a crazy thing to think about now \u2014 that Jennifer Lopez is the one who started my Instagram.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Though his current first visible post is a black-and-white promotional shot from August 2015 for Heroes: Reborn<\/em>, Guzman hints that Lopez may have posted earlier content that fans might never have seen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond Social Media: A Lesson in Work Ethic<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Guzman says working alongside Lopez wasn\u2019t just memorable for the Instagram story \u2014 it became a personal masterclass in discipline and ambition.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one thing to see a superstar do what they do,\u201d<\/strong> he said. \u201cBut watching Jennifer balance acting, writing a book, producing a dance reality show, working on music, and preparing for another film \u2014 all during the same project \u2014 that was inspiring.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He credits Lopez with showing what it means to manage a multifaceted career with purpose and teamwork.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe delegated with trust, stayed creative in every lane, and never lost momentum. For me, as a newer actor at the time, it was like watching a blueprint for how to build a career.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Reflecting on that period, Guzman says he\u2019s still grateful for the opportunity \u2014 and for the unexpected social media launch courtesy of a global superstar.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was just trying to soak in as much as I could,\u201d<\/strong> he said. \u201cBeing a fly on the wall around someone like her \u2014 it meant a lot.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
