Harrison Ford<\/span><\/span><\/strong> had just one word to sum up Helen Mirren<\/span><\/span><\/strong> when he took the stage to honor her at the Golden Globe Awards\u2019 Golden Eve event: \u201cbadass.\u201d<\/em> The moment proved to be both affectionate and deeply moving as Ford presented Mirren with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, an honor recognizing outstanding contributions to film and television.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ceremony, which aired on CBS on Jan. 8, brought together two screen legends with decades of shared history. Ford, now 83, reflected on first working with Mirren nearly 40 years ago in The Mosquito Coast<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, directed by Peter Weir<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. In that film, Mirren played Ford\u2019s wife, and the script required their on-screen children to call her \u201cmother.\u201d Recalling that experience, Ford joked about how time and perspective have only strengthened his admiration for her.<\/span><\/p>\n

That respect deepened when the two reunited decades later on the Paramount+ series 1923<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, created by Taylor Sheridan<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. Ever quick with a joke, she added that if the night were her memorial, she was delighted by who showed up \u2014 and jokingly \u201cmaking a list of the no-shows,\u201d drawing laughter from the audience. Mirren also reflected on formative childhood experiences that sparked her love of acting, the thrill of discovering theater and film, and even the simple joy of driving her \u201967 convertible Mustang through Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n
