At the time, Tim Burton, who had reinvented Batman for a new generation with Batman<\/em> (1989) and Batman Returns<\/em>, was set to produce Batman Forever<\/em>. Depp revealed that Burton advocated for him, attempting to get director Joel Schumacher and studio executives to consider him for the role. Ultimately, however, the decision didn\u2019t go his way, and Val Kilmer stepped in to wear the cowl after Michael Keaton\u2019s exit.<\/span><\/p>\n
