The hostages were handed to the Red Cross in three groups before transfer to Israeli authorities. Released photos from the Israel Defense Forces and Government Press Office captured emotional reunions between freed captives and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the freed was Evyatar David, an Israeli forced by Hamas to dig his own grave. Though thin and malnourished, he and the other hostages were safely returned to Israel. Twenty-eight bodies of hostages who were murdered remain to be returned under the ceasefire agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n
