In a new interview with NME, Freya Allan revealed that she \u201cspent a solid amount of time\u201d considering whether she would exit The Witcher<\/i> following Season 3, after Henry Cavill\u2019s departure from the role of Geralt. Naturally, she ultimately chose to stay. Allan stated, \u201cOnce I\u2019d made that choice, I made the most of every moment.\u201d She offered insight into her doubts about continuing, explaining that \u201cSeason three was a really difficult season for everyone.\u201d She added, \u201cI cried because I wanted to finish the show with the guy that played my adoptive father. For the first time, I was seeing what life away from The Witcher<\/i> could look like and then the lead moves on\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcoming Liam Hemsworth and Maintaining Loyalty to Geralt<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Freya and the rest of the cast made efforts to ensure Liam Hemsworth felt as comfortable and welcome as possible stepping into Cavill’s shoes. Allan commented on the reaction, saying, \u201cFans just love to hate on something. We\u2019ve made it clear that we\u2019re welcoming him with open arms.\u201d However, Allan confessed to NME that the transition \u201cwas very weird.\u201d She admitted that she still pictured Cavill\u2019s face every time Ciri was thinking about Geralt in the script for Season 4, stating, \u201cHe\u2019s the Geralt I grew up with.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking on the Mantle of Book Advocate<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

During the same interview, Allan disclosed a change in her role behind the scenes following Cavill’s exit. She took on the mantle of the person who would always push for certain scenes to be included, even if they were not initially written in the scripts. \u201cI really want to give fans what they want,\u201d she said. Allan was inspired by her former co-star, noting, \u201cI\u2019d also seen Henry, who was so knowledgeable and loyal to the books, push for certain lines to be included. When he left, I was inspired to take on that role.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Surprise at Fandom Critique<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps for that reason, Freya expressed surprise that some of the critique of the new season targeted scenes that were actually faithful to the source material. Allan noted, \u201cThe thing that\u2019s surprised me most about season four is how many people have criticised things that are straight from the books.\u201d She admitted she was tempted to create a burner account on Reddit to argue with people, though she ultimately refrained.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Satisfying Conclusion<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Freya shared her feelings about the fifth and final season, which will air next year. She concluded, \u201cThat final season took everything out of me, but I feel so incredibly satisfied.\u201d The Witcher Season 4 has been available since October 30, 2025.
