Michael Urie, co-star of the Apple TV+ drama <\/span>Shrinking<\/span><\/i><\/b> , is effective in his praise of cinematic legend <\/span>Harrison Ford<\/span><\/b> , claiming the actor’s notoriously “cantankerous” public demeanor is “just an act.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to PEOPLE at the opening night of <\/span>Chess<\/span><\/i> on Broadway on Sunday, Nov. 16, Urie, 45, said that on set, Ford is “silly and makes work fun.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe loves being [on set], he really, really loves being there,\u201d Urie said. \u201cI know he seems cantankerous on the red carpet, [but] that’s just an act. He’s actually very sweet, and he loves being there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A Dedicated Actor<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Urie, who plays Brian on the series, attested to the <\/span><\/span>83-year-old<\/span><\/span><\/b> Ford’s dedication to his craft.<\/span><\/span>\u201cHe is a really careful actor, he’s really thinking about the work,\u201d Urie shared. \u201cHe really cares about the scene; he treats every scene like it’s its own thing.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ford portrays <\/span><\/span>Dr. Paul Rhodes<\/span><\/span><\/b> , a compassionate therapist who is grappling with <\/span><\/span>Parkinson’s disease<\/span><\/span><\/b> .<\/span><\/span>Teasing the show’s upcoming third season, Urie predicts it will be a major showcase for the veteran actor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI’m telling you the Harrison stuff, I know Harrison had an amazing second season, but I think the third season is so Harrison forward,\u201d Urie stated. \u201cHe is so wonderful\u2026 He’s really amazing this season. It’s going to be a really beautiful, beautiful arc for our Mr. Ford.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Michael J. Fox Guest Appearance<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

The highly anticipated third season, set to premiere on <\/span><\/span>January 28, 2026<\/span><\/span><\/b> , will also feature a moving guest appearance from actor <\/span><\/span>Michael J. Fox<\/span><\/span><\/b> , who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991.<\/span><\/span> Fox is coming out of retirement specifically for this role.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Urie recalls the emotional impact of Fox’s presence on set. <\/span>\u201cI remember when [he] came to the set for the first time\u2026 and [the crew] were all completely puffy and red-faced from crying because it was apparently so beautiful, the scene with <\/span><\/span>Harrison Ford and Michael J. Fox<\/span><\/span><\/b> .<\/span><\/span>Of course, it was beautiful.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
