Just weeks after the 30th anniversary of his iconic debut in GoldenEye<\/i>, former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan is opening up about the slim possibility of a return to the franchise\u2014but not as 007 himself.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

London, UK<\/b> \u2014 Three decades after he first burst onto the screen as James Bond in GoldenEye<\/i> (1995), Pierce Brosnan, now 72, is weighing in on the future of the beloved espionage franchise and his potential involvement.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the titular role is firmly “another man\u2019s job,” Brosnan confessed to British GQ<\/i> magazine that he has “entertained” the idea of appearing in a future installment, perhaps as a retired agent.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Sometimes you entertain it and sometimes you just move on,” the father of five stated, adding that a blockbuster franchise “really gets in the way of life.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The conversation around a potential return comes as the 007 series undergoes its most significant creative shakeup in decades. In a landmark $1 billion deal in February 2025, creative control of the intellectual property shifted from Eon Productions and the long-reigning Broccoli family to Amazon MGM Studios<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new regime has already announced a stellar team for the next chapter, including Dune<\/i> director Denis Villeneuve<\/b> at the helm, alongside producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, and Peaky Blinders<\/i> creator Steven Knight as the writer.<\/span><\/p>\n

This change initially piqued the interest of the actor, who starred in four Bond films before stepping away after 2002\u2019s Die Another Day<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brosnan previously expressed a strong desire to work with Villeneuve. “I don\u2019t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I would look at it in a heartbeat,” he told Radio Times<\/i>. He joked about the possibilities: “It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics \u2026 who knows?”<\/span><\/p>\n

Though his stance now appears slightly more measured, the actor remains fascinated by the shifting landscape. “The possibilities of working within that film\u2026 It\u2019s going to be exciting to see what happens.
