The group\u2019s segment was introduced by fellow icon Missy Elliott<\/b>, who passionately credited Salt-N-Pepa with laying the “foundation that holds hip-hop together,” having successfully shown that “female rappers had to step to the mic and show that they could go toe to toe with the guys.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The performance was a high-octane trip down memory lane. Salt and Pepa took the stage in their iconic tri-color leather jackets<\/b> from the “Push It”<\/b> era (1987), launching into a dynamic medley of their greatest hits:<\/span><\/p>\n
