For many couples, planning a wedding is challenging enough. For entrepreneur and jewelry designer Kendra Scott and country music star Zac Brown, however, the real challenge extended far beyond selecting a venue, coordinating travel arrangements, or preparing for a ceremony. According to Scott, the most demanding part of their journey toward marriage was successfully bringing together a blended family of eight children before saying “I do” in Santorini in 2026.
The couple’s path to the altar was marked by nearly two years of careful planning, emotional conversations, and deliberate efforts to ensure that every child felt valued and secure. With children ranging in age from 11 to 23, Scott described the experience as one of the most complicated and rewarding undertakings of her life.
When Scott and Brown became engaged in July 2025, they immediately recognized that their relationship involved more than just the two of them. Scott’s three sons and Brown’s five children were entering a new chapter together, each bringing different personalities, routines, expectations, and family traditions. Rather than assuming the transition would happen naturally, the couple committed themselves to creating an environment where trust could develop gradually.
According to Scott, one of their biggest priorities was making sure that none of the children felt overlooked or displaced. Blended families often face unique emotional challenges, and the couple understood that building genuine connections would require patience and consistency. Every child needed reassurance that the new family structure would strengthen, rather than replace, existing bonds.
To help facilitate that process, Scott and Brown reportedly invested significant time in organizing private family retreats at Camp Southern Ground in Georgia. The gatherings were designed to encourage open communication and shared experiences in a relaxed setting away from the pressures of everyday life. Over the course of more than 200 hours together, the children participated in activities intended to build trust, create memories, and break down the natural barriers that can exist when two families come together.
Those retreats became a foundation for the family’s transformation. Instead of forcing relationships, Scott and Brown focused on creating opportunities for authentic connections to emerge. Gradually, the children began developing their own friendships and traditions, helping to replace uncertainty with familiarity.
The effort was not always easy. Coordinating schedules for eight children across different age groups presented enormous logistical challenges. Older children had responsibilities and social lives of their own, while younger family members required different kinds of support and attention. Balancing those needs demanded flexibility and commitment from everyone involved.
All of that work culminated on May 25, 2026, at the stunning Canaves Epitome Resort in Santorini, Greece. For Scott, the wedding represented much more than the beginning of a marriage. It symbolized the successful creation of a united family.
The most meaningful moment of the day, she reflected, was not necessarily standing beside Brown at the altar. Instead, it was looking out and seeing all eight children together, laughing and celebrating as one family. After two years of effort, emotional growth, and intentional relationship-building, that image served as proof that the journey had been worthwhile.
For Scott, the wedding was not simply the conclusion of a love story. It was the celebration of a family that had learned how to grow together, proving that patience, communication, and commitment can turn a complex transition into something truly extraordinary.
