Tom Holland may be one of Hollywood’s brightest stars, but behind the red carpets and blockbuster roles lies a simple promise that defines how he navigates fame — one made to his longtime partner, Zendaya.
In a recent interview, the Spider-Man actor opened up about the pressures of living in the spotlight and the pact that helps him stay balanced. “This really blew my mind,” Holland said. “Zendaya told me once, ‘Don’t let them take your peace.’ It stuck with me. So I promised her — no matter how crazy it gets, I’ll protect our peace first.”
A Star Under Constant Watch
Rising to international fame as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland quickly found that the thrill of success came with a cost — constant attention, both on and off set. Over the years, the actor has faced numerous situations where he’s had to dodge paparazzi, often during the filming of major projects.
“There were times I felt like I was living a real action movie,” he joked. “Only this time, the chase wasn’t scripted.”
Four Films, Three Great Escapes
1. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
While filming in Atlanta, the set became a hotspot for photographers eager to capture secrets from the production. “We had drones flying overhead trying to get pictures,” Holland recalled. “At one point, we had to sneak out of trailers using decoy cars. It was surreal — I was doing as much running off set as I was in costume.”
2. Uncharted (2022)
The globe-trotting adventure brought Holland to Barcelona, where he faced a different kind of chase. “They followed us through these narrow streets,” he said. “I ended up ducking into a café and hiding behind a counter until they left. It honestly felt like I was still playing Nathan Drake.”
3. Cherry (2021)
Filming the emotional Russo Brothers drama took a toll on Holland, both physically and mentally. “That role was tough,” he admitted. “One night after shooting, I saw cameras waiting outside. I just didn’t have the energy for it. That’s when I remembered my promise — not to lose myself, not to let the noise take over.”
4. The Crowded Room (2023)
Holland faced another test while filming in New York. “We’d finish these heavy scenes, and then there’d be people waiting with cameras outside my apartment,” he said. “Zendaya helped me through that. She reminded me to breathe, to remember that real life — the quiet moments — is what truly matters.”
Keeping His Word
Despite his global fame, Holland remains deeply private and focused on what he values most. “The movies are thrilling,” he said with a smile, “but what matters most is what’s off-screen — keeping my word, staying close to the people I love, and never letting the spotlight blind me.”
He and Zendaya have become one of Hollywood’s most admired young couples, known for their balance of success and sincerity. “We’ve both grown up in this crazy business,” Holland said. “But when it’s just the two of us — making breakfast or walking the dog — that’s when I know I’ve kept my promise.”
For Tom Holland, fame may be part of the job, but peace, privacy, and authenticity remain his true priorities.
