For all her Hollywood sparkle and polished elegance, Blake Lively’s favorite moments are the quiet, unfiltered ones — far from film sets and flashing cameras. In a recent interview, the Gossip Girl alum painted a picture of a simple, joy-filled morning spent with her two eldest daughters, James and Inez, cooking five homemade dishes with ingredients fresh from their own backyard garden.
“It was just a normal day,” Lively recalled warmly. “The girls wanted to help, so we went out to the garden, picked herbs and veggies, and decided to make everything from scratch.”
A Garden-to-Table Morning
The trio turned their harvest into a colorful feast: a lemon-basil pasta, a garden salad topped with edible flowers, rosemary flatbread, a strawberry-mint smoothie, and a sweet blueberry crumble made with oats and honey. Each dish, Lively said, was a small celebration of togetherness.
“It was chaos,” she admitted with a laugh. “There was flour everywhere, strawberries disappearing faster than we could use them. But it was so much fun. The kitchen looked like a disaster zone, but the girls were so proud of what they made.”
Family at the Heart of It All
Her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, made a timely appearance just as the food was ready. “He came in right when everything was finished,” Lively joked. “He’s got perfect timing — and apparently the best job as our official taste tester.”
Beyond the laughter, Lively spoke about how experiences like this connect her family to something deeper. “I grew up watching my mom cook everything by hand,” she reflected. “That’s what I want my kids to see — that food doesn’t just appear. It grows, it’s cared for, and it brings people together.”
Finding Balance in Simplicity
Between juggling film projects and her growing wellness brands, Lively finds peace in these ordinary moments. “Those mornings are grounding,” she said softly. “They remind me that the most important things — love, laughter, a little bit of mess — are all right here at home.”
In an age where celebrity lifestyles often feel far removed from everyday life, Lively’s story is a refreshing reminder: sometimes, the most beautiful days are the ones that feel “just normal.”
