Jennifer Stallone Shares Thoughts on Parenting and Expression in Hollywood Amid Discussion on Transgender Identity

Jennifer Stallone, wife of actor Sylvester Stallone, recently spoke about her perspective on why children of celebrities may appear more likely to openly identify as transgender compared to the general population. Her comments came during a conversation on The Katie Miller Podcast, where host Katie Miller raised the topic, asking whether Hollywood has a cultural influence that shapes young people’s identities.

“Hollywood Is About Expression”

When asked if there was “something in the water” in Hollywood, Stallone attributed it instead to an environment of creative freedom.

“I just think Hollywood is… all about expression,” she said. “However you want to express yourself… it’s so loose. I don’t think we’re really understanding that these kids are not our accessories. They’re little human beings that need structure.”

Stallone suggested that the entertainment industry lifestyle — with constant travel, large households, and numerous staff members — can create a less structured upbringing compared to traditional households.

“There’s just too much of everything,” she noted. “It gets really confusing for a little person… Structure helps their brain organize everything.”

Calling for Stability in Parenting

Stallone emphasized that her concerns are rooted in parenting style rather than identity itself, saying she believes children benefit from grounded guidance regardless of how they choose to express themselves later in life.

“It’s OK what you decide to be as an adult,” she said. “But raise them with common sense.”

She shared a personal example, mentioning that her daughters enjoyed sports and preferred pants over dresses growing up. For her, that was simply a part of their personality — not something that needed to be labeled.

“I never said, ‘You’re a boy now.’ I said, ‘You love sports, that’s awesome.’”

Broader Conversations in Hollywood

A growing number of public figures in Hollywood have openly supported their transgender children, including Robert De Niro, Gabrielle Union, Jamie Lee Curtis, Charlize Theron, Cher, and Liev Schreiber. Some of their children came out as adults, while others spoke publicly about their identity at a young age — prompting ongoing cultural conversations about parenting, support, and personal agency.
