How Taylor Swift Really Feels After Her Texts With Blake Lively Were Unsealed in It Ends With Us Lawsuit

Taylor Swift is quietly reeling after deeply personal text messages she exchanged with longtime friend Blake Lively were unsealed as part of the ongoing It Ends With Us lawsuit—a development that insiders say left the global pop star feeling exposed and blindsided.

According to a source speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, the release of the private messages has been emotionally difficult for Swift. “It’s honestly been really hard for Taylor,” the insider said. “Having her texts out there made her feel exposed and kind of violated, like something private suddenly wasn’t hers anymore. That doesn’t sit well with her.”

The messages surfaced earlier this month after a judge unsealed select communications involving Lively and It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni, amid Lively’s lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and attempting to damage her reputation—claims he has strongly denied.

One exchange from April 2023, viewed by Us Weekly, shows Lively allegedly asking Swift for help managing her tense working relationship with Baldoni. “Can you do me a huge favor. I need help with him,” Lively reportedly wrote, asking Swift to express excitement about the project and praise certain script pages. Swift allegedly replied that she would “do anything” for her friend.

Other unsealed messages reveal a warm, playful dynamic between the two women. In one text, Lively praised Swift following a reportedly tense confrontation with Baldoni at her apartment. “You were so epically heroic today,” Lively wrote, calling Swift “the world’s absolutely greatest friend.” Swift’s response was equally effusive: “I WON THE LOTTERY. You are the COOLEST PERSON IN THE WORLD and you like me!!”

However, later messages from December 2024 show Swift expressing frustration about Baldoni’s public statements, including one text where she allegedly referred to him dismissively while sharing a news article about his past trauma. Those remarks, now public, have intensified media scrutiny and pulled Swift into a legal battle she never intended to be part of.

Sources stress that Swift’s involvement was never strategic. “She wasn’t trying to get involved or make anything bigger,” one insider explained. “She was just supporting Blake as a friend, in what she thought was a private moment. Now it’s turned into this whole thing that she didn’t ask for.”

A second source echoed that sentiment, emphasizing Swift’s discomfort at being drawn into the controversy. “She’s obviously not happy,” the insider said. “She wasn’t involved in creating a master plan to take anyone down. She was just being a supportive friend.”

Swift and Lively have been close since 2016, with Lively even naming Swift as the godmother to her children with husband Ryan Reynolds. Despite that bond, Us Weekly previously reported that the friendship has been strained amid the legal fallout.

Baldoni has claimed in his own court filings that Lively leveraged her friendship with Swift to gain control over the film—an accusation Swift’s team firmly denied. In a May 2025 statement, Swift’s spokesperson clarified that the singer had no creative involvement in It Ends With Us, aside from licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet,” calling the subpoena an attempt to generate “tabloid clickbait.”

For Swift, the situation underscores a painful reality of fame: even private moments of loyalty can become public property overnight.
