WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump delivered a video address to tens of thousands gathered for the 53rd annual March for Life, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to advancing a pro-life agenda and what he described as rebuilding “a culture that supports life.” The message, displayed on large video boards along the National Mall, was met with sustained applause and cheers from attendees braving winter temperatures.
“In 2026, as we celebrate 250 years since our founding fathers recognized the right to life in our Declaration of Independence, I want to thank every single one of you who is out on this winter day… to stand up for the unborn,” Trump said. He reminded the crowd that six years earlier he became the first sitting president to attend the March for Life in person—an appearance that marked a turning point in the movement’s relationship with the White House.
Trump pointed to the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade and returned abortion policy to the states. He credited the ruling to his first-term judicial appointments, calling the outcome “the greatest victory in the history of the pro-life movement.”
“Because of that decision, the work to rebuild a culture that supports life continues in every state, every community, and every part of our beautiful land,” Trump said. He framed the effort not only as a legislative battle, but as a moral one, emphasizing that it must be won “in the hearts and souls of the people.”
The president also highlighted policies his administration says are designed to support families and children. He cited efforts to defend religious liberty, end taxpayer funding for abortion domestically and abroad, and expand faith-based adoption and foster care programs. Trump additionally referenced a new initiative providing a $1,000 government-backed investment account for every newborn American born between 2025 and 2028, describing it as a way to support parents and give children a financial foundation from birth.
Trump closed his remarks with a line that echoed throughout the rally: “With your help and support, we will continue to fight for the eternal truth that every child is a gift from God. Thank you, and God bless America.”
Earlier the same day, Trump issued a proclamation for National Sanctity of Human Life Day, pledging to be “a voice for the voiceless” and urging Americans to support women facing unexpected pregnancies, as well as adoption and foster care systems nationwide.
The March for Life also featured remarks from Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson, underscoring the administration’s broader alignment with pro-life advocates as the movement enters a new chapter shaped by state-level battles and national debate.
