Country superstar Blake Shelton made a loud, unapologetic return to Las Vegas this week, kicking off the latest run of his residency at Caesars Palace with humor, high energy, and a few choice words about “Dry January.” After a successful but brief Vegas stint last year, Shelton is back with an expanded schedule—and a renewed reason to celebrate.
Shelton resumed his residency on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, launching the show with “Pour Me Drink,” his collaboration with Post Malone. The song, which earned the duo a CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year, immediately set the tone for the night. Holding up a dark cup that appeared to contain a cocktail, Shelton wasted no time engaging the crowd.
“I hope you guys aren’t doing that no drink January or whatever the hell that s— is,” Shelton joked. “It’s stupid. This is country music, okay?” The remark drew loud cheers from the packed audience, with Shelton encouraging fans to “take the night off” if they were observing the trend.
While Shelton performed six Vegas shows last year, this 2026 residency run stretches across the entire month of January. Though the 90-minute show closely mirrors last year’s format, fans were treated to new material, including “Stay Country or Die Tryin’,” Shelton’s latest No. 1 single. Before performing the song, Shelton paused to reflect on the milestone.
“This is the only time during this residency I’ll be able to say this,” he told the crowd. “We are celebrating my 31st No. 1 song.” Clearly energized by the moment, Shelton joked that the achievement was “freaking him out,” adding that the Vegas stage was his one chance to properly celebrate.
The setlist balanced fresh releases like 2024’s “Texas” with beloved classics spanning Shelton’s career, including “Austin,” “She Wouldn’t Be Gone,” and “Some Beach.” Visually, the show shifted moods through the massive screen behind him—flowing rivers during “God’s Country,” stark prison imagery for “Ol’ Red,” and glowing signage during “Neon Light.” A single spotlight stripped things back for a quieter performance of “Sure Be Cool If You Did.”
Shelton’s trademark humor was on full display as he bantered with fans between crowd-pleasers like “Hillbilly Bone” and “Boys Round Here.” One of the night’s most heartfelt moments came during “Nobody But You,” when Shelton performed alongside a prerecorded video of his wife, Gwen Stefani, harmonizing with him on the oversized screen.
“This is like my big-ass living room,” Shelton told the crowd, inviting fans to shout out song requests. Even on a Thursday night, the energy felt electric. “It’s never Thursdays in Las Vegas,” Shelton quipped. “Only Saturdays.”
Shelton’s remaining residency dates include Jan. 18, 21, 23, 24, 28, 30, and 31, promising plenty more celebrations—Dry January or not.
