Demi Moore is offering a rare and heartfelt glimpse into her early relationship with ex-husband Bruce Willis, recalling a quirky tradition that became a beloved part of their life together. Speaking during a Q&A with Kate Hudson at a special screening in Los Angeles, Moore shared how music — specifically the songs of Neil Diamond — played a meaningful role in their marriage.
The conversation took place Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Soho House in Los Angeles, following a private screening of Hudson’s latest film, Song Sung Blue. The movie, inspired by Diamond’s 1972 hit of the same name, struck a deeply personal chord with Moore, now 63, as it reminded her of what Willis once affectionately dubbed “Neil Diamond Day.”
“This is a little personal thing, but Bruce always had every week, Neil Diamond Day,” Moore told Hudson, 46, during the Q&A. She explained that once a week, Willis would blast Neil Diamond’s music throughout the house from morning to night. “I’d say, ‘What’s going on?’ And he said, ‘No, it’s Neil Diamond Day,’” she recalled with a smile. According to Moore, this wasn’t a fleeting phase — Willis “kept on doing that for years,” underscoring just how devoted a fan he was. “He was a huge Neil fan,” she added. “And so am I!”
Moore and Willis were married from 1987 until 2000 and share three daughters: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah. Despite their divorce, the former couple have long been praised for maintaining a close, respectful relationship centered on family. That enduring bond was evident in Moore’s warm recollection, as well as in her praise for Song Sung Blue itself.
