Tom Hiddleston has long been admired for his acting range — and his uncanny ability to impersonate fellow stars. But during his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, he took that talent to a new level, performing a full Robert De Niro impression… in front of Robert De Niro himself.
The moment quickly became a highlight of the episode, showcasing not just Hiddleston’s humor but also his fearlessness as a performer.
Reenacting a Classic Scene from Heat
While promoting his film Crimson Peak, Hiddleston was encouraged by host Graham Norton to showcase his well-known impressions. Without hesitation, he stood up and reenacted one of the most iconic scenes from the 1995 film Heat, taking on both De Niro’s character and Al Pacino’s.
Channeling Pacino’s intensity, he delivered the first lines with a gritty tone:
“You know, we are sitting here, you and I, like a couple of regular fellas…”
Then, seamlessly shifting into De Niro’s signature calm delivery, he continued the exchange, recreating the tense back-and-forth from the original film. The audience erupted in laughter and applause — and all eyes turned to De Niro for his reaction.
De Niro Responds — And Approves
De Niro, appearing on the show to promote The Intern, watched with a subtle smile before nodding in approval. Earlier in the interview, Norton had asked how he feels about impressions of him.
“I kind of enjoy it, especially if they do it well,” De Niro said. “So, no, it’s great. I love it.”
Judging by his reaction, Hiddleston’s performance landed exactly right.
More Impressions and Behind-the-Scenes Marvel Trivia
Not stopping at one impression, Hiddleston went on to parody Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken, and even host Graham Norton, much to the delight of the audience.
Seated alongside director Kenneth Branagh, Hiddleston also reflected on his early Marvel audition days. He revealed that he originally read for the role of Thor before eventually being cast as Loki — a role that would become one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
A Moment of Lighthearted Showmanship
In a world of polished press tours, Tom Hiddleston’s playful display stood out as a genuine moment of entertainment. With De Niro’s amused approval and the audience roaring in laughter, it became one of those memorable talk show moments that fans will replay again and again — a showcase of talent, confidence, and good-natured fun.
