Jennifer Lopez is speaking candidly about her approach to relationships — and it’s clear she’s all about moving forward.
The 56-year-old singer and actress appeared on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, Oct. 15, where she revealed she doesn’t tend to check up on former partners. “Once I’m done, you’re dead to me,” Lopez joked, laughing during the interview. “I’m going to get in trouble!”
Lopez explained that she generally doesn’t hold on to past relationships. “Not dead to me — but definitely, it’s over, I’m going to move on,” she said. Reflecting on her high school boyfriend, whom she dated for ten years and who has since passed away, Lopez said, “We didn’t really keep in touch. He was one of the most lovely people ever… I kind of outgrew [our relationship] in a certain way.”
The star also touched on the challenges of dating while living in the public eye. “It’s difficult to be under that microscope,” she told Stern. “I live my life very out loud… even though I’m in the public eye. And I wanted to share my life with someone. I want someone to be there to share my big important moments on the red carpet.” She added that she now prefers to keep her personal life more private.
Lopez has been open about her past marriages, including those to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, Marc Anthony, and Ben Affleck. She noted that her first two marriages happened when she was very young and didn’t carry the same weight as her later relationships.
Following her divorce from Affleck, finalized in January 2025, Lopez has focused on family and work. While she and Affleck recently reunited professionally for the New York City premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman, sources confirm that a romantic reconciliation is not expected.
The Bill Condon-directed film, starring Lopez alongside Tonatiuh and Diego Luna, is now in theaters, marking another milestone in her prolific career.
