President Donald Trump has offered a highly controversial reaction to the tragic death of actor-director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, who were found dead in their Brentwood mansion on Sunday with stab wounds. While calling the loss of life a “very sad thing,” Trump immediately shifted focus to what he described as Reiner’s all-consuming political opposition.
In a post on his Truth Social network, the former President suggested that Reiner’s death was “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”He further claimed that the famous director “was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump.”
Reiner, celebrated for directing timeless classics such as Stand by Me , The Princess Bride , and When Harry Met Sally , was a prominent and vocal critic of Trump. The long-time Democratic activist repeatedly forewarned of Trump’s impact, having called him “mentally unfit” for the presidency in 2017 and later described him as a “mentally ill sociopath.”He had also publicly blamed Trump’s rhetoric for the 2022 attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi.
The deaths of Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, are currently being evaluated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division as an apparent homicide. Law enforcement sources, as reported by Breitbart News and other outlets, confirmed that a family member is being investigated in connection with the tragic incident. Their son, Nick Reiner, was later arrested and is being held on suspicion of murder.TMZ broke the initial report of the double fatality at their Los Angeles residence.
