Streaming giant Netflix is once again aggressively licensing content. This marks a significant shift for major distributors. Many had previously favored keeping all their owned titles for their own services. However, these major companies are now gradually returning to licensing deals with Netflix. Since mid-November, MGM, now a subsidiary of Amazon and Prime Video, has begun licensing its catalog again. This is happening in both the US and international markets.
In the United States, several MGM movies have already been added since late November. More are scheduled throughout December and will continue into 2026. The late November additions included the teen comedy Bottoms (2023), the road-trip dramedy Dog (2022) starring Channing Tatum, and the romantic horror drama Bones & All (2022) featuring Timothée Chalamet.
The December lineup features the inspiring biopic Respect (2021) on the life of Aretha Franklin. The Guy Ritchie war thriller The Covenant (2023), starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is also scheduled. Other notable additions are Ridley Scott’s biographic drama House of Gucci (2021) and the spy thriller The Hustle (2019). The action movie Wrath of Man (2021), starring Jason Statham, arrives on Christmas Day.
The Full Bond Legacy Arrives
Internationally, a similar pattern of MGM movie pickups has been observed. Crucially, numerous countries have now confirmed the arrival of the complete James Bond film collection. All 25 official Bond films, plus the unofficial Never Say Never Again, will hit the streaming service. This landmark event is scheduled for January 15th, 2026. European regions have already included the movies in their ‘New on Netflix’ announcements. Sources indicate that Netflix in the United States will also receive all 26 titles on the very same date. Most of these films will be debuting on the platform for the first time. It is noted, however, that the most recent Bond entry, No Time To Die, will be excluded in some international regions.
The full list of arriving Bond movies spans from Dr. No (1962) to Spectre (2015) and includes the unofficial Never Say Never Again (1983). No Time to Die (2021) is also on the list for most territories.
More MGM Classics in the Pipeline
Looking ahead, further MGM titles are expected to land on Netflix US. These are rumored to include major franchises such as Rocky, Creed, and The Addams Family.
The duration of these licenses varies. However, sources suggest that many titles, including those recently added, have been licensed for three-month periods. This is a common arrangement seen with many other licensed titles that rotate on and off the global Netflix platform.
MGM Television Series Also Licensed
This new licensing pact also extends to television content. The award-winning MGM Television series Fargo, which airs on FX in the US, is coming to select regions. It will begin streaming in those territories on December 18th, though the United States is currently excluded.
This expansion of the partnership is noteworthy. It comes even as MGM Television continues its successful production collaboration with Netflix. The studio produces the major hit series Wednesday. Wednesday is currently set to return for its third season. Production is confirmed to start in early 2026, with an expected debut in mid-2027. Netflix maintains exclusive rights to the series for its entire run. The streamer retains the show for an additional ten years after the final season is released.
