He used his platform to send a defiant message of unconditional love to queer youth.
The annual LoveLoud Festival, which Reynolds founded, aims to spark conversation about what it means to unconditionally love and accept LGBTQ+ youth, particularly in conservative environments. During his band’s headlining set at the event in Salt Lake City in 2019, Reynolds abruptly stopped singing midway through the performance.
