Get your caps on — the Peaky Blinders are officially back. Four years after the Shelby clan’s series finale farewell, Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, and his crew of Birmingham mobsters are making a feature film return. The new movie, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, is set to hit Netflix in March 2026.
Series creator Steven Knight wrote the script. Tom Harper, known for Wild Rose and Heart of Stone, is directing the new chapter. The Immortal Man will follow the Shelbys into a dramatic new era.
“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” Murphy told Netflix, confirming his return. He added that he finds it “very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders.” Murphy believes the film is “one for the fans.”
The film is produced in association with BBC Film. Early promotional materials feature a tense and dramatic atmosphere. One first-look image shows a stern man in vintage attire riding a horse through a dark, misty setting.
The Plot: War, Exile, and Reckoning
The story plunges into Birmingham in 1940. World War II rages, and the chaos forces Tommy Shelby out of a self-imposed exile. He must return to face what is described as his “most destructive reckoning yet.”
With the future of his family and the country hanging in the balance, Tommy is forced to confront his personal demons. He must choose between facing his legacy or utterly destroying it. “By order of the Peaky Blinders…”
Knight promises an explosive new chapter. He told Netflix, “The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders.” He stressed that the film will be “No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”
