Jennifer Lawrence Says Husband Cooke Maroney Has ‘Given Up So Much’ for Her Career — “He Keeps Me Grounded When I Spiral”

Jennifer Lawrence has built a global career on fierce performances and sharp wit, but when it comes to her personal life, the Oscar-winning actress keeps her world intentionally quiet. In a rare moment of openness, Lawrence spoke about her husband, art gallerist Cooke Maroney, and the quiet strength he brings into her life away from the spotlight.

“He’s given up so much for me,” she said softly. “He keeps me grounded when I spiral. He reminds me who I am when I forget.”

“He Sees Me When the Cameras Are Off”

Having been thrust into international fame at a young age through The Hunger Games, Lawrence admits she spent years being “watched, discussed, and analyzed.” But with Maroney, she says, she found something entirely different — peace.

“I’ve spent so long being seen by everyone — fans, directors, the press,” she explained. “But Cooke sees me when the cameras are off. That’s the version of me that matters.”

Letting Someone In — Without Performing

Lawrence revealed that early in their marriage, she struggled with the instinct to handle everything alone, trying to protect Maroney from the frenzy that comes with her career.

“I thought love meant shielding him from all of it,” she admitted. “But he showed me that letting someone in doesn’t make you weak — it makes you whole.”

She recalled filming Don’t Look Up (2021), a time when pressure began to take a toll.

“I came home one night completely overwhelmed,” she shared. “I was in tears, and he didn’t try to fix it or tell me to be strong. He just said, ‘You don’t have to be strong for me. Just be you.’ And that changed everything.”

A Love Story Built on Quiet Support

The couple married in 2019 in a small ceremony surrounded by close friends and family and welcomed their first child in 2022. Lawrence acknowledges that living alongside fame has meant sacrifices for Maroney — a man who never sought the spotlight.

“He’s sacrificed a lot of normalcy to be with me,” she said. “The travel, the attention — it’s not easy for someone who didn’t ask for it. But he handles it with such grace. He makes our life feel… normal. He’s my home base.”

“He Loves the Jen I Forget to Love”

For a woman known for portraying strong-willed characters like Katniss Everdeen, Lawrence says that real-life strength looks different now.

“It’s not about being fierce all the time,” she reflected. “Sometimes strength is just being loved the right way — the kind that doesn’t ask you to perform, just to be.”

She paused before sharing perhaps her most personal admission yet:

“Cooke doesn’t just love Jennifer Lawrence, the actress,” she said. “He loves Jen — the messy, anxious, clumsy version. The one I forget to love sometimes. And that’s the kind of love that lasts.”

Quiet, steady, and deeply human — Jennifer Lawrence’s love story isn’t the Hollywood spectacle people expect. It’s something far rarer: a place to simply be herself.
