Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has made a powerful statement regarding the atmosphere she expects at her upcoming solo concerts, declaring that individuals holding racist, sexist, or transphobic ideologies are not welcome.
In a recent cover story interview with Clash Magazine ahead of her solo tour for the new album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, the 36-year-old artist emphasized her commitment to creating a fully inclusive space for her audience.
“I’ve always said, all are welcome at our shows,” Williams told the outlet. “But I don’t want racists around, and I don’t want sexist people around, and I don’t want people there who think that trans people are a burden.”
She labeled this stance as “a hard line” for her, expressing hope that those who harbor “harmful ideologies” will naturally feel unwelcome upon seeing the diverse and positive community gathered at the show.
“All are welcome if you believe all should be welcome… If you don’t believe that, you’re not welcome!” she stated plainly.
Williams has consistently used her platform as an outspoken advocate for marginalized communities. In 2023, she publicly criticized two bills in Tennessee targeting the LGBTQ+ community. During a Paramore set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in September 2024, she also spoke out against the Project 2025 initiative, which includes aims targeting reproductive rights, immigration, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.
Her latest album, which earned her four Grammy nominations, sees Williams reflecting on her Southern Christian upbringing and the racial tensions historically present in the region. She shared her deep commitment to fighting racial injustice during an October 1 appearance on the New York Times’ Popcast podcast.
“I’m never not ready to scream at the top of my lungs about racial issues,” Williams said. “I think because it’s so intersectional that it overlaps with everything from climate change to LGBTQIA+ issues.”
The solo tour for the album kicks off in Atlanta on March 27, 2026, and concludes in Los Angeles on May 15, 2026. Williams noted that making the album felt like “getting back to the beginning of what made me fall in love with music,” calling the entire experience a lesson in “holding a lot of truth.”
