The platform screenshot’s new feature, accessed by clicking on an account’s “Joined” date, immediately led to online users sharings of their findings. The revelations point to a suspected network of foreign-based accounts involving US political discourse.

The popular anti-Trump account “Republicans Against Trump,” boasting nearly 978,200 followers , was found to be based in Austria . Conservative commentators noted that the account subsequently began using a VPN to mask its location, a change indicated by an exclamation point next to the listed location.

The account “America First,” with 67,600 followers , was exposed as operating from Bangladesh , despite its patriotic branding.

Another influential pro-Trump profile, MAGANationX , with nearly 400,000 followers , was reported found to be operating from Eastern Europe .
