LOS ANGELES, CA — Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter staged another playful “arrest” during her string of “Short n’ Sweet Tour” shows at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. On Thursday, November 20, the “Espresso” singer gave SZA her signature pink fuzzy handcuffs, hilariously citing the reason as being “too hot.”
Carpenter spotted the SOS songstress in the audience and immediately engaged her. “SZA?” Carpenter said, adding with a joke, “I’ve got some competition, s**t,” to which SZA playfully disagreed. Carpenter continued, “No? OK, listen, where are you from?” prompted a huge roar from the crowd when SZA revealed her home state: New Jersey .
“They don’t always scream for other cities, so I love that,” Carpenter replied. She then escalated the gag, stating, “SZA, you know what they say, it’s cuffing season . You’re getting really flustered. Oh s**t, SOS, for real.” Following the mock arrest, the Man’s Best Friend artist dedicated a live performance of her song “Juno” to the Top Dawg Entertainment powerhouse.
This tradition has become a viral highlight of the tour. Just days earlier, on Monday, November 17, Carpenter “arrested” celebrity sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning .She has taken several other notable women into custody across the tour, including Gigi Hadid, Millie Bobby Brown, Nicole Kidman, Ayo Edebiri, and Clairo .
In other news for the stars, Carpenter released her latest album, Man’s Best Friend , in August.The LP arrived with the chart-topping singles “Manchild” and “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry.” The latter track earned praise from rapper Nicki Minaj shortly after its debut.
SZA, meanwhile, is concluding a busy year. She recently added four new songs to the SOS Deluxe: LANA before appearing as a guest during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show. The “All The Stars” collaborators then toured together on the “Grand National Tour,” which wrapped its European leg in August. SZA is ready for a big night at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she and Lamar’s “luther” are nominated for Record of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Song of the Year .
