Dr. Jeffrey Epstein, a New York neurosurgeon, is plotting a humorous response after Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) mistakenly linked him to the convicted sex offender and alleged sex trafficker of the same name. Crockett’s error occurred while she attempted to smear former Republican Congressman and current EPA head Lee Zeldin.
The Long Island physician revealed his plan to the New York Post on Thursday. “I think that I should contribute money to Jasmine Crockett and then let everyone know that she also took money from Jeffrey Epstein,” he stated.
Crockett’s initial claim was made on the House floor earlier this week. She vowed to “expose it all,” asserting she had discovered “somebody named Jeffrey Epstein” donated to Zeldin in 2020. This implied the $1,000 campaign contributions were from the notorious financier, despite him dying in a Manhattan jail cell the previous year. The donations were, in fact, from the neurosurgeon.
“Until she said something, it was never an issue,” Dr. Epstein told the Post when asked if he had faced past confusion with the well-connected sex criminal. “Listen, that’s my name.”
Crockett Attempts to Walk Back Claims
Following the factual inaccuracies of her public smear against Zeldin, Crockett resorted to finessing her language. Appearing on CNN’s The Source , she mentioned she never meant to directly associate Zeldin with the notorious Epstein. She reminded host Kaitlin Collins that she referred only to “somebody named Jeffrey Epstein.”
She attributed the error to her “team” having “Googled” the results. She argued that she had “specifically said ‘a Jeffrey Epstein’; unlike the Republicans, I just don’t go out and just tell lies.” When pressed by Collins, she maintained, “I never said that it was that Jeffrey Epstein.” She added, “Just so that people understand, when you make a donation, your picture is not there.”
Zeldin was quick to respond to the dispute. On Wednesday, he posted Crockett’s CNN appearance on X, adding a simple piece of advice for the congressional woman. “When you find yourself in a hole, it’s best to stop digging,” Zeldin wrote.
