Sabrina Carpenter staged another playful “arrest” during her run of “Short n’ Sweet Tour” shows at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena this week. On Thursday (Nov. 20), the “Espresso” singer brought out her signature pink fuzzy handcuffs, this time for R&B star SZA, joking that the artist was “too hot.”
The interaction began when Carpenter spotted the SOS songstress in the audience. “SZA?” Carpenter called out. She immediately followed with a lighthearted jab, “I’ve got some competition, s**t,” which SZA quickly moved to dismiss. “No? OK, listen, where are you from?” the pop star asked the Grammy-winner. A huge roar erupted from the crowd when SZA replied with her home state, New Jersey.
“They don’t always scream for other cities, so I love that,” Carpenter acknowledged. The playful exchange continued as Carpenter brought up the concept of “cuffing season.” She noted SZA was “getting really flustered,” and quipped, “Oh s**t, SOS, for real.” Following the banter, the Man’s Best Friend artist dedicated a live performance of her song “Juno” to the Top Dawg Entertainment powerhouse.
The ‘Short n’ Sweet’ Tradition
The “arrests” have become a beloved feature of the tour. Just a few days earlier, on Monday (Nov. 17), Carpenter brought out the handcuffs for sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning. The list of lovely ladies taken into custody across the tour is growing, including A-listers like Gigi Hadid, Millie Bobby Brown, Nicole Kidman, Ayo Edebiri, and Clairo.
Album and Tour Success
Carpenter is supporting her latest album, Man’s Best Friend , which was released in August. The LP arrived with the chart-topping hits “Manchild” and “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry.” The latter track received high praise from rapper Nicki Minaj shortly after the album’s debut.
SZA’s Busy Year Continues
Meanwhile, SZA is wrapping up a very active year. She recently added four new songs to SOS Deluxe: LANA . The star then appeared as a guest during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show. The “All The Stars” collaborators subsequently toured together on the “Grand National Tour,” which completed its European leg in August. Looking ahead, SZA is set for a big night at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Her and Lamar’s collaboration, “luther,” is nominated for Record of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Song of the Year. Her solo tracks “Crybaby” and “30 For 30” are also in the running for other categories.
